Forest Bathing-Moving Meditation at Lillibridge

Monday, September 16th  Program Start Time: 6:30 pm Program Length: 1 hour

Forest bathing, also known in Japanese culture as “taking in the forest atmosphere” or shinrin-yoku, is a moving meditation surrounded by nature. Join us for the first of our potentially seasonal offering on Monday September 16th from 6:30-7:30pm at the Lillibridge location of Pfeiffer Nature Center. We will meet in the parking lot and wander through the woods, taking in the wonders of this beautiful location through all five physical senses as well as our sixth, intuitive sense, and finish with witnessing the sunset. Led by Jessie Lampack Slattery, local registered yoga teacher, our Forest bathing series begins this September and we hope to see it continue as the year shifts with the seasons. This program is open to all ages as long as your child can remain quiet in order to allow all participants to reap the healing benefits of such an experience. Plan to leave your phones off and cameras at home as we unplug for an hour and reset our internal systems. We will breathe and gently stretch along the way, soaking in the healing qualities of the Earth. Studies show that forest bathing can reduce blood pressure, lower cortisol levels (decrease stress), improve concentration and memory, and actually boost the immune system! This is a slower and more mindful pace than an average hike so prepare to turn inward and find yourself expanding and connecting with even the trees themselves. Cost is $5 per person.  Pre-registration is not required.  “Walk as if you are kissing the Earth with your feet.” -Thich Nhat Hanh. In event of rain, this program will be moved to Monday September 23rd.  If the weather appears questionable, look for a change of date notice on the top of our website home page.  Pfeiffer Nature Center is supported by United Way Funding.  Pfeiffer Nature Center where science, art & nature come together.
